IX. Trails, Bike and Walk-ways <br /> Sidewalk work being done in front of the New Brighton Community Center. <br /> X. Announcements <br /> A. Council Report—Council Member Mary Burg <br /> • Working on budget <br /> • Ribbon cutting ceremony for View Apartments is planned <br /> for July 10, l0am <br /> • • Council Work session last evening <br /> o Eagle Scout Project—Totem Pole made &put up at <br /> Totem Pole Park <br /> o Historical Society(at Long Lake Regional Park) <br /> wants to plant the original rhubarb from Joe Hipp's <br /> farm (which is currently being held in Stillwater) <br /> on a 1 acre area at Long Lake Regional Park. They <br /> are looking for volunteers to help plant. <br /> o Park Encroachment—would not survey all parks. <br /> 1. Probably do it on a complaint basis/action <br /> base if a need for change. <br /> 2. Don't want to cause ill feelings for the <br /> people living next to the park. They have <br /> been good stewards of the park property. <br /> 3. It got left up in the air; no directive. <br /> o Trail issue <br /> 1. Council supported 3 or the 4 proposals that <br /> PREC gave the Council. Council suggested <br /> New Brighton Parks and Recreation <br /> continue working with the agencies <br /> involved. Mississippi connection was not <br /> supported as strongly because there is a trail <br /> there already. <br /> 2. Burg commented staff continue to be aware <br /> of any new developments and bring those <br /> forward to Council as they happen. <br /> B. Commission Reports on Parks <br /> Parker: Vermont—Bare patches where warming house used to be. <br /> Weber: Veterans - Beautiful. There are outfield ball field patches. <br /> Lundberg: Driftwood—Good/Hansen—East side tree down; <br /> her child plays T-ball @ Silver Oaks. <br /> Fields: Hidden Oaks—Tennis Court repairs being done; one dead <br /> tree on north end. Park looks really good. <br /> Kunesh-Podein: Silver Oaks—Good. Retaining wall fixed within <br /> a day. More are loosening up. <br /> C. Chair Updates <br /> Fields stated that this is Commissioner Weber's last meeting. He is <br /> moving out of New Brighton and is resigning. Fields thanked <br /> Weber and wished him well. <br /> Three seats are now open on the Parks, Recreation and <br /> Environmental Commission. <br /> 2 <br />
