Written notice will be given in the event the City requires <br />' construction of the 16 proof -of -parking stalls. <br />• The wall sign illustrated on the proposed south elevation is not permitted in accordance <br />with Chapter 9 of the Zoning Code. <br />• Implementation of the requirements noted in the Interoffice Public Works/Engineering <br />memo dated 6/13/2012. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the City has a Granite Falls tour scheduled from 1:30 to 3:00 <br />p.m. on Thursday, June 28`h. The Council was invited to tour the site during this timeframe as <br />a public meeting was posted. City Manager Lotter stated this morning he attended a meeting <br />discussing the future of fiber optic in the area. He viewed this utility as a necessity for future <br />development of the community's businesses. He was in favor of fiber optic running through <br />the City of New Brighton. A public and private partnership was being sought between the <br />County and neighboring cities. City Manager Lotter noted he attended the League of <br />Minnesota Cities Conference in Duluth last week, along with Mayor Jacobsen, <br />Councilmembers Samuelson and Jacobsen. He was pleased with the information presented and <br />stated he would be investigating digital packets in the near future. This item was discussed <br />further with the Council. City Manager Lotter mentioned he was investigating the <br />'implementation of a C -Click Fix operation in the City to engage residents in reporting code <br />enforcement issues. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported she attended the June 19`h Planning Commission meeting. <br />She then questioned the number of cities that needed to be supportive of the fiber optic <br />agreement in order to bring this to the County. City Manager Lotter stated each City in the <br />County would need to be supportive. He understood that the neighboring communities were <br />gaining support. Grants could not be received until the entire community was in agreement. <br />Further discussion ensued regarding the importance of the coming fiber optic network. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg thanked Andre Barte for his foresight in applying for fiber optic grants <br />years ago on behalf of the City of New Brighton. She indicated she attended the EDC meeting <br />last Tuesday, June 19`h. Pulte presented a concept plan for development in the New Brighton <br />Exchange. She requested staff investigate urban farming and place this item on an upcoming <br />work session meeting. Councilmember Burg wished everyone a safe and happy 4`h of July. <br />Char Samuelson <br />Councilmember Samuelson reported the Public Safety met on Monday, June 25`h. The group <br />discussed the Tobacco Ordinance.
