it ity <br /> , - Report Number 12-205 <br /> J Agenda Section VI-6 <br /> ITON Council Meeting Date August 28, 2012 <br /> the city that works for you <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDERATION OF 2012 SPECIAL ASSESSMENT RESOLUTION <br /> FOR PROJECT 11-1, 2011 STREET REHABILITATION <br /> DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: GMT <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: To adopt the attached resolution declaring costs to be assessed, ordering preparation <br /> of proposed assessments, and setting September 25, 2012 as the date for the 2012 Special Assessment <br /> Hearing on Project 11-1, 2011 Street Rehabilitation. <br /> Legislative History: The City Council approved this project at an Improvement Hearing on April 12, <br /> 2011. <br /> Financial Impact: This City Council action declares the cost to be special assessed of$85,848.82. <br /> Explanation: Project 11-1 consisted of the rehabilitation of the following streets in the summer <br /> of 2011: <br /> 5th Street NW - Old Hwy 8 NW to cul-de-sac <br /> 8th Street NW - 7th Street NW to Old Hwy 8 <br /> 9th Avenue NW - 8th Street NW to 10th Street NW <br /> 1 1th Avenue NW - 8th Street NW to 10th Street NW <br /> 12th Avenue NW - 8th Street NW to cul-de-sac <br /> The approval of this project included the recommendation that the street rehabilitation portion the <br /> project costs be funded by general taxes, assessments against benefiting properties in the project area. <br /> Minnesota State Statute 429 requires a Public Hearing be held to adopt the proposed assessments. We <br /> are recommending the special assessment hearing be held at the regular City Council meeting on <br /> September 25, 2012. <br /> Costs and Funding: A complete assessment report outlining the final project costs, proposed <br /> assessment rate, and recommended funding will be distributed to Council in advance of the assessment <br /> hearing. <br /> _)&i,,,, <br /> Grant M.
