SECTION 4
these future flood investigation feasibility studies.
Problem 4.2.0 The City has identified several yard problem drainage areas. The following are
the drainage areas the City is aware of:
1. Backyard drainage issues between 17th Street and 16th Terrace
2. Backyard drainage issues between Mounds Avenue and Rice Creek Road
3. Backyard drainage issues at 575 Fairfield Drive
4. Backyard drainage issues at 260 17th Avenue SW
5. Backyard drainage issues at 1662 Long Lake Road
6. Front yard drainage issues at 1551 County Road H
7. Backyard drainage issues at 2382 Erin Court
Corrective Action 4.2.0 The City will continue to monitor these problem areas and determine
which locations require a feasibility study. The feasibility study would evaluate the existing
drainage conditions and outline possible improvement options to alleviate the backyard drainage
issues at the locations listed above. This may be most efficiently accomplished(economy of
scale)by completing one feasibility study that addresses all seven drainage issues listed above.
Problem 4.2.D The landlocked basin located southeast of 16th Street and 29tb Avenue
experiences highly fluctuating water levels.
Corrective Action 4.2.D The City will complete a feasibility study to investigate the option of
adding an outlet to this basin that will result in more consistent water level.
Problem 4.2.E Water levels on landlocked basins throughout the City.
Corrective Action 4.2.E The City will continue to monitor water levels on landlocked basins
and provide emergency pumping as water levels require.
Problem 4.2.F Corrugated metal pipe(CMP) culverts are located throughout the City. The City
has experienced that many of these pipes are rusting, some with structural failures. Once rusted,
CMPs are more susceptible to plugging or collapsing, which may lead to reduced or total loss of
conveyance capacity.
Corrective Action 4.2.F The City Council has expressed a desire to inventory all CMP culverts
(failing or not). Once inventoried the Council will decide on a replacement schedule to
eliminate current and future problems.
Problem 4.2.G Excess ponding occurs in street depressions south of Forest Lake(aka Forestdale
Pond).
Corrective Action 4.2.G The will introduce storm sewer improvements with the 2017 street
improvement project to address the excess roadway ponding on streets south of Forest Lake.
4.3.
