A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />Scott Vaughn offered a word of thanks and introduced his family to the Council. He then discussed the <br />programs he has been involved in over the past 20 years throughout the City. He provided comment on the <br />numerous benefits to the community he has seen over the years. Mr. Vaughn stated it has been an honor and <br />privilege for him to serve the City of New Brighton. <br />Consent Agenda <br />1. Director of Parks and <br />Recreation Brelrer spoke to the Council regarding the upcoming Senior Expo, along with the GameTime <br />grant She noted the Thrive! Senior Expo would be held on September 27, 2012 from 1:00-5:00 pm. at the <br />Community Center. She explained the City was awarded a grant for just over $32,000 to assist with <br />purchasing playground equipment for Hanson Park. The playground equipment would be a community <br />install, which would save the City over $14,000. It was noted the City has been working with local kids to <br />select Skate Park equipment for Freedom Paris. The work should be completed this fall, weather permitting. <br />Mayor Jacobsen discussed a recent article regarding playground equipment and the need for the parks to be <br />suitable for both children and grandparents. <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to approve the Consent <br />Agenda as amended adding Item 10. <br />Consent Aeenda <br />1.
