B. Allina Medical <br /> Mr. Dave Matteson distributed and reviewed the January report including response times. He <br /> also reminded Commissioners that Allina will be moving into their new location in Mounds <br /> View on or about March 12t'. The new technology in the facility will improve services. Allina <br /> will be purchasing 16 new"Life pack cardiac monitors"which cost about $25,000 each. Allina <br /> is hiring EMT's and will be hiring new paramedics soon. They will also begin using"intra nasal <br /> medications" for certain patient needs in the next one to two months. Mr. Matteson also talked <br /> about how Allina prepares for snowstorms to include increasing staffing. <br /> C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> No report. <br /> D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> Director Jacobson noted the following: <br /> The Police Division held their annual meeting on Friday, February 24th at the Public Safety <br /> Center. During the meeting, several awards/recognitions were given out to include the <br /> following: <br /> • Police Officer of the Year—Officer Brad Krebsbach <br /> • Traffic Safety Officer of the Year— Sgt. Andy Masterman <br /> • Life Saving Award for November 2, 2011 (saved the life of a 22 year old male bleeding <br /> from self inflicted wounds)— Sgt. Terry Nelson, Officer Ted Layton, Officer Brad <br /> Krebsbach, Fire Captain Mike Schute and Firefighter Andy Vik <br /> • Life Saving Award for August 5, 2011 (saved the life of a suicidal male who attempted to <br /> jump off the Silver Lake Rd/694 bridge)—Officer Trevor Hamdorf, Officer Kathy <br /> McNeely, Officer Matt Voeller, Officer Burt Emerson, PSO Joey Zuehlke, Deputy <br /> Director Dan Olson, Officer Aaron Slack <br /> • Life Saving Award for July 24, 2011 (saved the life of an 85 year old female who was not <br /> breathing due to an airway obstruction)— Sgt. Steve Moore, Officer Kathy McNeely, <br /> Officer Matt Voeller <br /> Parks and Recreation and Public Safety will be teaming up to assist a New Brighton family who <br /> has made a request through the Suburban Ramsey County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program. <br /> We will be assisting the family with planning and hosting a welcome home party for a returning <br /> National Guard member. The family is overwhelmed and they don't feel that they can plan and <br /> host this party on their own. The party date and location are set for May 12th from 9 am to noon <br /> at the Freedom Park Neighborhood Center. <br />
