Public Safety Commission <br /> February 27, 2012 <br /> Attending: Commissioner Allen, Commissioner Benke, Commissioner Bredenbeck, <br /> Commissioner Donohue, Commissioner Hollimon, Commissioner Kroll, <br /> Commissioner Schumann, Director Jacobson, Det. Mike Lochen and Dave <br /> Matteson—Allina Medical <br /> Absent: Commissioner Lamp, Commissioner Woods, Council Member Burg <br /> Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> Commissioner Allen called the February meeting to order at 6:32 pm and roll call was taken. <br /> January Meeting Minutes <br /> The January meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Schumann recommended <br /> amending the minutes to reflect less detailed discussion on the Irondale High School Town Hall <br /> Meeting. He did not believe the discussion was to that detail in the meeting. Commissioner <br /> Benke motioned to accept the minutes with the elimination of everything except the first two <br /> sentences of the paragraph related to Irondale's Town Hall meeting; Commissioner Donohue <br /> seconded. Motion carried. <br /> Public Hearing/Presentations <br /> A. Controlled Substance Investigations <br /> Det. Mike Lochen conducted a presentation on controlled substance investigations for the <br /> Commissioners. Det. Lochen discussed a"snapshot" of drug related calls for service in 2011 <br /> and also highlighted some of the more popular drugs and described New Brighton cases. Det. <br /> Lochen also had samples of several controlled substances to show the Commissioners. <br /> Updates <br /> A. Citizen Corps Council <br /> Community Emergency Response Team Training will begin this Thursday. We have nineteen <br /> students registered with three more tentative. The class will include significant diversity with <br /> students from a local Mosque in attendance. Commissioners are welcome to attend. <br /> Department Reports <br /> A. Human Rights <br /> Commissioner Kroll reported attending a MN League of Human Rights Commissions retreat <br /> during the past weekend. The current President was re-elected. They discussed Commissions <br /> working well and building better relationships with Cities. They also discussed public policy <br /> agendas to include discussion on current constitutional amendments. Commissioner Kroll also <br /> noted that they agreed to allow appointment of alternates to League. The Commission will look <br /> for potential volunteers at the next meeting. <br />
