April 10, 2012 Page 5 of 5 <br /> Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Burg reported that Wishes &More , a Fridley Company will be holding a <br /> plant sale at the Bru House. All proceeds will go to Wishes &More. <br /> The next EDC meeting will be April 17th, at 7:30 am. <br /> Char Samuelson <br /> Councilmember Samuelson reported the next Public Safety Commission meeting will be <br /> April 23rd at 6:30 pm. Northwest Youth& Family Services will be hosting a Leadership <br /> Luncheon in May at Midland Hills Country Club. <br /> Mayor Jacobsen <br /> Mayor Jacobsen reported that he would like New Brighton to get involved with America's <br /> Promise Alliance-obtaining a ranking in the 100 Best Communities For Young People. <br /> Mayor Jacobsen along with City Manager Lotter have been crafting a proclamation related to <br /> the effects some of the State's decisions have had on local governments. DSI has invited the <br /> Mayor to serve on a committee; he will look into it further. Mayor Jacobsen suggested <br /> providing training for our Parks, Recreation&Environmental and Public Safety Commissions <br /> on a variety of topics including"Safe Streets & Trails." The cost is not expected to have a <br /> substantial impact on the budget. It was reported that the council has made most decisions <br /> regarding Advisory Commission appointments, it was noted there is still one remaining <br /> candidate to interview. <br /> Paul Jacobsen <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen reported PREC met on April 10th. Ken Manthis gave a report on <br /> Brightwood Hills. Civil Engineer Craig Schlichting and Public Works Technician Dustin Lind <br /> gave an overview of anticipated future projects. The Community Center is offering a summer <br /> special; 90 days for 90 dollars.
