Council Report—Council Member Jacobsen <br /> Council received a letter of intent from Pulte homes for the <br /> northwest side of New Brighton Exchange. There is a park proposed <br /> for this area. It is now going to EDC, then to Council for further <br /> discussion. API is looking to expand. Ash tree removal—67 trees <br /> this past year were marked for removal. In the Community Center— <br /> new ramp went in on west end. Girl Scout cleanup at Hansen Park <br /> was very successful. Council Member Jacobsen asked Assistant <br /> Director West to explain the Missouri gravel bed.Assistant Director <br /> West explained that there is a suggestion by Park Maintenance <br /> Superintendent Wolla and the current Forestry Technician Busiahn, <br /> to plant some trees at the water tower site that can be used as <br /> replacement trees for ash trees removed from the boulevard. <br /> B. Chair Updates <br /> Chair Frischman mentioned the cleanup and playground installation <br /> project that took place at Hansen Park. Commissioner Lundberg was <br /> involved with the project. A resident group was formed and met <br /> with Park Maintenance Superintendent Wolla to decide on the type <br /> of playground equipment. A trip was taken to one of the playground <br /> vendors, GameTime, to look at the equipment. The group met once <br /> or twice a month and narrowed down vendors. At the end of the <br /> process, GameTime offered a matching grant that involved an <br /> application process. The grant allowed for greater purchasing power. <br /> A community build was held; twenty volunteers helped with the <br /> installation.Assistant Director West said that Commissioner <br /> Lundberg probably had 18-20 hours of volunteer time in committee <br /> time alone. Also,the old playground was dismantled by 9 volunteers <br /> from an organization called, Kids Around the World. They ship the <br /> playground to Illinois where it is refurbished and then send it off to a <br /> developing country.Chair Frischman wanted to say kudos to <br /> Commissioner Lundberg and all the other volunteers that had so <br /> much involvement in the process. <br /> Chair Frischman stated that the Commission has not typically had a <br /> 2 <br />
