Rating Scale Definitions <br />Check the category of each essential job function found in the job description that best represents how <br />well the employee is performing. Please provide specific examples to support the rating choices in the <br />overall summary box. <br />❑ Distinct Strength This rating indicates that performance is well beyond expectations and that the <br />employee clearly and consistently demonstrates excellences in this performance <br />area. This rating requires explanation or additional comment on behalf of the <br />review, including specific examples. <br />❑ Element of Strength This rating indicates that performance exceeds expectations and may <br />occasionally be outstanding, and that the employee demonstrates strong <br />performance and clear skill in this area. <br />❑ Meets Standards This rating indicates that performance meets the expectations and needs of the <br />City. <br />❑ Needs Attention This rating indicates that performance does not meet expectations and <br />additional effort is required in order to become a qualified performer. This <br />rating requires explanation or additional comment on behalf of the reviewer, <br />including the providing of specific work related examples. <br />This rating indicates that the performance during the rating period is <br />unacceptable, and if immediate action is not taken, could be grounds for <br />❑ Immediate Improvement dismissal. The rating may also indicate that the employee is new to the <br />position, has a serious weakness, or that performance has stabilized below <br />desired level.
