Deputy Director Tony Paetznick and Fire Captain/Police Officer Trevor Hamdorf have returned from a 10-day deployment to New York as part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact(EMAC) to respond to the east coast for storm recovery. Fire Captain/Police Officer Trevor Hamdorf worked in Logistics in the EMAC and Deputy Director Tony Paetznick worked in Finance/Administration and ended up as the Finance Chief. Council Liaison A. Council Report No report. Old Business A. Review Draft Bias Crimes Policy The draft Protocol for Response to Bias Crimes was reviewed; there was one addition to be made to the wording. Commissioner Benke made a motion to adopt the Protocol for Response to Bias - es; Commissioner Lamp seconded. 5 Ayes, 2 Nays—Motion Carried Ayes: Commissioners Benke, Donohue, Kroll, Lamp and Woods Nays: Commissioners Kocon and Schumann Commissioner Schumann asked to note the Nays were 50% of the Human Rights Subcommittee. Commissioner Kocon stated he wants more discussion to understand the policy. Commissioner Woods stated a protocol policy is needed for when these issues arise. B. Electronic Packets Commissioners were asked if they would like to receive their Public Safety Commission packet electronically. The following Commissioners would like to try this: Commissioners Benke, Donohue, Kroll and Lamp. Mr. Dave Matteson would also like to receive the packet electronically. Packets will be delivered to the remaining commissioners. New Business A. December Meeting There was discussion regarding the December Public Safety Commission meeting which would fall on New Year's Eve. Commissioner Benke made a motion to not meet in December; Commissioner Lamp seconded. Motion carried. Adjourn Commissioner Benke made a motion to adjourn the November 2012 Public Safety Commission meeting; seconded by Commissioner Woods. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
