Updates
A. Citizen Corps Council
No report.
Department Reports
A. Human Rights
Commissioner Kroll noted the League of MN Human Rights Commissions is working to have
their web site up in February 2013. She will continue to monitor this.
Director Jacobson reviewed the history on a bias crime call. He reported both parties are going
through dispute resolution and have met with a mediator once and will schedule another session.
Director Jacobson noted the typical process involves our police officer offer a meeting with the
Human Rights Subcommission. The victim would like to meet with the Human Rights
Subcommission. Commissioner Kroll will contact the victim to schedule a time to meet.
B. Allina Health
Mr. Dave Matteson offered the Public Safety Commission to meet at the new Allina Health
offices sometime during the first quarter of 2013.
The North Metro 911 Manager position was posted today. Allina will also be hiring 30-40
paramedics in 2013 to keep overtime costs down.
Mr. Matteson noted a new"baby law"where a person can surrender an infant with no worries
about being charged with abandonment. This new law expands to ambulances; however, the call
is not supposed to go through the police so he is not sure how that will work since Allina would
not respond to a call like this without the police also being there to ensure everyone's safety in
what could become a volatile situation. He will get more information on this.
Mr. Matteson reported there are three potential new locations to replace the Lake Johanna
location; two are in the 694/Lexington area and one is in Roseville.
Allina Health donated 30 turkeys to the Ralph Reeder food shelf
C. Volunteers in Public Safety(VIPS)
Commissioner Woods reported the VIPS will meet tomorrow.
The VIPS helped with the Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday,November 5th; 36 units of blood
were donated.
The VIPS continue with graffiti clean up.
The SantaCop program is gearing up and the VIPS will be assisting with this.
D.
