Commissioner Fields stated the Frisbee golfers have been in the park with snow blowers making paths through the park. Will the turf die because of the exposure to the cold? They have also plowed a path right at the base of the sledding hill. They did clear the snow off of the bridge. Nguyen: Freedom Commissioner Nguyen stated there are some spots on the hockey rink that do not have ice. Director Breuer commented that because Freedom is asphalt, the sun melts the ice quicker on that rink. Council Member Jacobsen stated the sledding hill is really getting a lot of use. Vacant: Innsbruck No report on Innsbruck. Fields: Hidden Oaks No report on Hidden Oaks. Chair Frischman has been to Hidden Oaks and seen the extensive fortress created by the kids. Perhaps soliciting cleanup help from the neighborhood would be a good idea. Frischman: Meadow Wood Chair Frischman commented that Meadow Wood looks good as always. Kunesh-Podein: Silver Oaks Kunesh-Podein was absent. CM Jacobsen: Sunny Square No report— it looks fine. Parker: Vermont Commissioner Parker said there is a trail to the park entrance but it is not plowed. Director Breuer noted we do not plow this in the winter. Vacant: Veterans No report on Veterans. D. Department Happenings / upcoming events • Ice rinks opened Dec. 22 at Freedom Park. Last year we opened on Jan. 2 and had a really warm winter. • The last play feature was installed in the Hansen Park playground. • Over 200 children and adults attend the holiday dance recital on Dec. 12. • New carpet and tile put in at the Brightwood Hills clubhouse. The Clubhouse was also painted. • West entry has received some improvements to be handicap accessible, with ramp, and actuated entry doors. • There is now a 7 day trial membership. No cost. - 5 -
