Commissioner Kroll had a conversation with one member <br /> of the family after the second mediation session and will communicate with her again after the <br /> mediation concludes. <br /> Commissioner Kroll reported the League of MN Human Rights Commissions sent to New <br /> Brighton a packet with materials about their annual essay contest and an invoice for 2013 Dues <br /> for$100. Commissioner Kroll indicated that as the Public Safety Commission had voted to not <br /> continue with this membership, she will forward this invoice to public safety staff indicating the <br /> Public Safety Commission has recommended to not pay this invoice. <br /> B. Allina Health <br /> Mr. Dave Matteson reported he has accepted the position of North Metro 911 Operations <br /> manager which is the busiest area. Mr. Matteson is still transitioning into his new position and <br /> will continue to serve as the Allina Health representative to the Public Safety Commission. <br /> Allina Health has received a grant to donate defibrillators to the community. Mr. Matteson noted <br /> an excellent job done by New Brighton Public Safety personnel at a cardiac arrest call on <br /> Christmas Day. The victim is still hospitalized but is recovering. <br /> Mr. Matteson will have 2012 year end stats at the next Public Safety Commission meeting. <br /> Mr. Matteson asked if the Public Safety Commission wanted to meet at the Allina Health facility <br /> for the February meeting. Staff will work to schedule and coordinate this. <br /> C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> Commissioner Woods reported the following VIPS information: <br /> a VIPS are now at 34 members. <br /> a VIPS will be helping with CERT the end of February. <br /> a VIPS continue with the usual monthly activities. <br /> a VIPS assisted with the January 9tn Red Cross Blood Drive which resulted in 19 units of blood <br /> being donated. <br /> D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> Director Jacobson noted Detective Gary Sykes will be retiring on January 31st. Detective Sykes <br /> worked for our depth linent for 33 %2 years. We wish him the best;he will be missed. There will <br /> be a reception for Detective Sykes on Friday, February 1st, at Moe's in Mounds View. <br /> Director Jacobson thanked Commissioner Allen for presenting the Public Safety Commission <br /> annual report to Council last Tuesday; he did a good job. <br /> Council Liaison <br /> A. Council Report <br /> Mayor Jacobsen asked people to contact Council with any issues. The City is launching new <br /> paperless technology for City Council; they now receive their Council packets on iPads. <br />
