New Brighton Community Center Tour— Jason Hicks, Facilities Manager
Chair Frischman thanked Jason Hicks for the comprehensive tour.
V. Correspondence
None
VI. Old Business
a. Old Hwy 8 Bridge / Connections
Chair Frischman commented that at the last meeting PREC members
agreed that they would visit these sites and come prepared to make a
recommendation regarding the trails in these areas. The
recommendation will be included in the report that Grant Wyffels and
Craig Schlichting are preparing for Council. This first discussion item is
on Old Hwy 8 just south of County Road E. Commissioner Fields
commented that the path is very high and bikers are very close to the
bridge overhead. Commissioner Fields inquired if there is a way to
make a change on that walkway without replacing all the rail road
trestles and changing the grade of the road. Not sure there is any
place to go to make the walkway wider. Commission Lundberg
commented that is seems like the road needs to be widened.
Commissioner Fields also commented that we may want to consider
having a bike path from the south side of the trestle going toward the
County Road E2 35W bridge that would connect on the other side of
35W.
Commissioner Kunesh-Podein thought that on Hwy. 88 there was an
official bike path that goes down by the quarry shopping area; just
north of the cemetery or golf course. We would need to work with
Roseville, because they are in between us and the quarry area.
1
