The surface at the Freedom Park skate park requires an overlay to create a new/smooth surface for the
installation of equipment purchased in 2012. Currently the existing Skate Park equipment remains
onsite and will be used until the new pavement is scheduled for placement. With the paving equipment
onsite, staff plans on extending the proposed overlay to cover the adjacent hard court. This will create a
smooth surface throughout the area and a seamless transition between the basketball and skating areas.
The tentative schedule is to prepare plans for a mill and overlay and advertise for bids for an early
summer construction. Staff will return to the Council for approval of the bids and authorization of
construction.
Bid Opening: June 18, 2013
Council Approvals: June 25, 2013
Start Construction: July 2013
Costs and Funding: The cost estimate to mill and overlay portions of these streets and the Freedom
Park Skate Park is $220,000, which would be funded from MSA construction/maintenance and PMP
funds.
jrA,
Cra' hlichting, P.E.
Senior Engineering Supervisor
Attachments
Aerial Plan Overview
Existing Pavement Condition Photos
