April 23, 2013 Page 6 of 6 Gina Bauman Councilmember Bauman thanked the public works snow plow drivers for keeping the City streets clear this winter. She stated Officer Troy Hyland returned to Minnesota after one year of service in Afghanistan. The City thanks Officer Hyland for his sacrifice and service. She reported on the recent American Red Cross blood drive. It was noted the Annual Public Safety Volunteer Appreciation Dinner would be held on Sunday, May 19th at the Community Center. She indicated the Public Safety Commission world meet again on Monday, April 29t at 6:30 p.m. She explained she had an executive session conference call regarding the cable contract. Mary Burg Councilmember Burg reported she attended the recent Fire Division annual banquet. She thanked all those who serve the community. She explained she attended the Planning Commission meeting on April 16th. She thanked Bruce Howard for his willingness to Chair the Planning Commission. The next Planning Commission meeting would be held on May 21St. The New Brighton Historical Society would be meeting next on Thursday, April 25th, She commented the Historical Society was seeking volunteers at this time. Char Samuelson Councilmember Samuelson reported the Park and Recreation Commission did not meet in April but would be meeting on May 1St at the Community Center. The public was invited to attend this meeting to provide comment on parks within NBE. Paul Jacobsen Councilmember Jacobsen thanked the Fire Division for a great annual banquet on April 13th He noted Andre Barte was recognized as the 2012 Volunteer of the Year. Charlie Prasek received the Golden Pager Award for his high response rate to fire calls. He congratulated them both on their achievements. He noted the EDC did not meet this month. Mayor Jacobsen Mayor Jacobsen reported that he would be attending the Minnesota Mayor's Conference in Moorhead on April 26 -27. He noted there would be 70 mayors attending the event. He discussed a note received from Shoreview regarding a community dialogue that would be held at the Shoreview Community Center on Thursday, May 9th from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. where intergenerational differences will be discussed.
