Commission Reports on Parks <br /> Lundberg: Driftwood/Hansen <br /> DW: Nothing to report. <br /> HN: Commissioner Fields reported there is a picnic table by the building <br /> with some boards broken. There is broken glass outside the door, right on <br /> the trail. <br /> Nguyen: Freedom <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> Vacant: Innsbruck <br /> No report. <br /> Fields: Hidden Oaks <br /> Hidden Oaks looks pretty good. <br /> Frischman: Meadow Wood <br /> Meadow Wood is really wet. On Freedom hockey rink there are a bunch of <br /> boards that are coming out and the interior of the rink on the south end. <br /> Vermont has a lot of kids playing at the new playground. It is a very nice <br /> park. <br /> Kunesh-Podein: Silver Oaks <br /> Nothing to report— it is drying out. <br /> Vacant: Sunny Square <br /> No report. <br /> Parker: Vermont <br /> It is looking nice. <br /> D. Department Happenings / upcoming events <br /> Director Breuer reported on the Department Happenings. Listed below are <br /> a few of the highlights: <br /> • The golf course opened for the season. <br /> • Goose nest search has begun again this season. A nest was found <br /> at Brightwood Hills Golf Course. <br /> • Soccer skills camp— 57 participants; Free Tennis carnival — 78 <br /> participants; Gymnastics sampler — 4 week class has 60 <br /> participants. <br /> • Adult softball has 66 teams playing in our summer league. <br /> • Last week was national volunteer week. 638 volunteers donated <br /> time in 2012. Over 7,600 hours were donated. Equates to about <br /> $165,000. Almost 4 full-time staff members. We sent a special e- <br /> mail with the Parks and Recreation staff photo thanking them for <br /> the projects they have done. We are very appreciative of the <br /> 8 <br />
