r <br /> Not Approved <br /> • The proposed ornamental grasses and shrubbery depicted on the Landscape Plan shall be implemented to ensure <br /> the kennel is appropriately screened. <br /> • No animals shall be left in the kennel unsupervised and the kennel shall be cleaned daily. <br /> Chairperson Howard asked how the kennel area would be screened. Planner Gundlach reviewed the location on the site <br /> plan stating it would be 30' off the property line. She explained the area would be landscaped with shrubs and ornamental <br /> grasses. <br /> Tom Buckley, landscape architect for Impact Designs,reviewed the plans for the kennel area in further detail with the <br /> Commission. He noted the kennel size has been reduced to meet the City's setback requirements. He discussed the <br /> placement or the ornamental grasses and proposed retaining wall. He explained the kennel area would be an asset to the <br /> building. <br /> Commissioner Danger questioned if the hours of operation and asked how the kennel area would be used. Melissa Jensen, <br /> New Brighton Veterinary Clinic,commented the hours of operation would remain the same. She explained the new <br /> kennel area would be used for exercising the animals. <br /> Chairperson Howard inquired if a condition should be added to address odor and animal noise. Planner Gundlach stated <br /> noise and odor could be handled through the City's existing nuisance ordinance. <br /> Motion by Commissioner McPherson, seconded by Commissioner Nichols-Matkaiti to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Approved 6-0. <br /> Motion by Commissioner Danger,seconded by Commissioner Banker to approve staff recommendation. <br /> Approved 6-0. <br /> Other Business: None. <br /> Adjournment: <br /> Motion by Commissioner Banker,seconded by Commissioner Nichols-Matkaiti,to adjourn the meeting. <br /> 6 Ayes,0 Nayes,Motion carried. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM <br /> 2 <br />
