August 27, 2013 Page 6 of 6 <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lntter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the National League of Cities Convention would take place on <br />November 13 -16, 2013 in Seattle, Washington. He requested that those interested in attending <br />speak with staff. He stated staff would be meeting with the Army tomorrow afternoon <br />regarding the water treatment plant. He thanked the Mayor for recently acknowledging him for <br />his five years of service to the City of New Brighton. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman indicated the Public Safety Commission would meet on Monday, <br />September 26, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Center. She noted the Public Safety <br />Department had two openings at this time and discussed the hiring process. She reported <br />several members of the Public Safety Department took part in the 8th Annual Officer Silvera <br />5K Run. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the EDC met last week. The group discussed the parcel <br />size of the New Brighton Exchange. He thanked the group for their discussion at the past <br />meeting. He then commended staff and Council for the recent discussion held regarding the <br />2014 budget. <br />Char Samuelson <br />Councilmember Samuelson reported the Parks Commission would meet again on October 2, <br />2013. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Planning Commission met on August 20, 2013. She noted <br />the group would meet again on September 17, 2013. She then discussed a community <br />volunteer event that took place on August 2151. She commented the Community Center would <br />be closed September 3rd through September 7th for painting and maintenance. <br />Mayor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported the Council discussed the Urban Farming Task Force in a work <br />session meeting earlier this evening.
