Update from Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom Bostrom <br /> Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom thanked the Council for their time. He highlighted the events taking <br /> place in Ramsey County. He explained Sheriff's Deputies were kept busy with court orders,warrants, <br /> detention of prisoners and court security. In addition to these efforts the County also provided water patrol, <br /> crime scene and canine services in Ramsey County. The mission of the Ramsey County Sheriff's <br /> Department was reviewed. He commented the Sheriff's Department manages 9,000 warrants at any given <br /> time and online warrant searches were now available to assist with managing this task. It was noted the <br /> County was working to improve its crime scene processing and joint training was offered to local <br /> departments. The benefits of the Code Red notification program were discussed. He discussed the Annual <br /> Fright Farm that was open Friday and Saturday evenings in October by the Ramsey County Sheriff's <br /> Department All were invited to attend. <br /> Councilmember Bauman asked if the County has seen an increase in the number of permit to carry requests. <br /> Ramsey County Sheriff Bostrom stated there has been a dramatic increase in the number of permit to carry <br /> requests,along with the permit to purchase requests over the past two years. <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen and Councilmember Samuelson thanked Sheriff Bostrom for the report this <br /> evening. <br /> Further discussion ensued regarding a recent Code Red event in the City of New Brighton.
