precedent. New Brighton may not want to set a precedent either.
• Excited that the RCBC brings diversity to youth activities and has
similar motives and commitments to serving the community.
• Clarified that the RCBC is asking to put a shipping container
somewhere in the area of South Park to help alleviate boat and
equipment storage issues.
• Should receive permission from Ramsey County to portage the canoes
on the path from the storage area to the boat launch. Before we get a
container on City property, it would be wise to get permission from
Ramsey County first.
• There are logistics with different entities, such as the County and the
railroad that need to be worked out. Perhaps we need to get legal
counsel on this.
• There should be a contract between RCBC & the City of New Brighton.
• Felt this item should be tabled until we can get answers to some of
these concerns. When we have the information needed, we would feel
more educated to make a decision on this.
• Suggest the RCBC contact Ramsey County about whether they would
allow carrying boats down the trail.
• It was recommended that commissioners look at the site where the
container placement is proposed.
Kathy Tokos stated she spoke with the person she would purchase the
container from and he looked at the site. It would be almost impossible to get
the container to the site. Therefore, it is more likely we would need to purchase
the one that would be assembled on location. We may remove the container
over the winter months.
Director Breuer stated we will check into who owns what property and we will
check into legal issues. Director Breuer stated she would like the RCBC to
connect with API about any concerns they might have with the storage
container.
Judi Mikolai stated she had contacted API about putting the storage container
on their property, however, the parking lot area is the closest spot to the lake
and it would be right next to their back yard which would not work for them.
Also their parking lot is quite full. So we are trying to find a place for the
container. There is no property on the lake to purchase so we are trying to find
a partnership. We will still contact API about and concerns they may have
regarding the storage container.
VII. Council Report — Council Member Samuelson
Council is negotiating with API to expand their campus; it is one or two other
buildings. We are also working on the housing development with Pulte. We
are getting clean fill from the road construction project which will be placed in
