A
city of
BRIGHTON
the city that works for you
Council Worksession
February 4, 2014
5:00 pm
Present: Councilmember Gina Bauman
Councilmember Mary Burg
Councilmember Paul Jacobsen
Councilmember Brian Strub
Absent: Mayor Dave Jacobsen
Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Grant Fernelius, Janice Gundlach
Guests in Attendance: Casey Hankinson -Ryan Companies, Craig Lien - Colliers
Update form Ryan Companies & Colliers
Director Fernelius explained that in 2011 the City partnered with Colliers & Ryan for marketing and
development purposes. Craig Lien, representing Colliers reported on the measures they have been taking to
market the New Brighton Exchange area.
Casey Hankinson reported that Cardiovascular Systems Inc. has expressed interested in expansion in New
Brighton. Director Fernelius reported that CSI is outgrowing their current space, as they recently received
FDA approval for a new device. CSI has gone through a RFP process earlier this year, and have narrowed
their search down to two sites, one of them being New Brighton Exchange. Timing would be a key indicator,
as CSI would like to occupy their building in November 2014. The Council talked briefly about the feasibility
of the project and the aggressive timeline. Hankinson stated that he feels his group is well qualified to work
with the timeline. Councilmember Bauman stated that the Council can be flexible to meet as needs arise
through the process. The Council thanked both Mr. Hankinson and Lien for their diligent effort.
The work session adjourned at 5:54 pm.
