NBCC facility rental revenues experienced a 4% increase in 2013 <br />compared to 2012 (which was a record breaking year in facility <br />rentals). <br />Neighborhood Center and related facility rental revenues <br />experienced a 12% increase in 2013 compared to 2012 (which was <br />also a facility rental high). <br />Freedom and Hansen parks enjoyed a preview weekend at the ice <br />rinks and sliding hill on December 14 and 15. Both parks opened <br />for the season on December 21. <br />Director Breuer noted that at the January 28`h Council meeting, Chair <br />Jeanne Frischman will be giving the annual Parks, Recreation and <br />Environmental Commission report to the Council. It will be about 6:30 p.m. <br />Please feel free to attend if you would like. <br />At the February 11, 2014 Council meeting, the New Brighton Community <br />Center Restroom /Locker room renovation discussion with Council will take <br />place. We will ask for authorization to go out for bids. <br />At the February 25, 2014 Council meeting, we will be presenting on the <br />New Brighton Exchange Parks discussion. We will be bringing forward <br />our proposal that PREC put together earlier. <br />Council Liaison Strub commented that a very important piece of <br />information that Director Breuer shared was that Facility Rentals were up <br />and at an all -time high. He stated that deserves a super amount of kudos <br />not just from this Commission from the entire community. He did bring this <br />up at last night's Council Work Session to let folks know that not only are <br />there great products and Parks and Recreation opportunities, but this is a <br />City that is working hard and producing revenue and breaking a record <br />and doing a fantastic job. This provides a return on our investment for tax <br />payers of this City. He thanked Director Breuer and her staff. Director <br />Breuer commented that she will certainly let her staff know; especially <br />those who work with rentals. We have had a bang -up year. <br />IX.
