In 2014 we have no State aid projects, in 2015 would be the 10th Street, in 2016 it would be the County Road E2 road from Old 8 to the gas station. Trails, Bike and Walk -ways Chair Frischman stated there may be more discussion in February as some of the Public Works projects come into discussion. VIII. Announcements A. Council Report — Council Member Strub Councilmember Strub stated he was sworn into the Council one week ago. He stated he served on the PREC back in 2010 and it is wonderful to be back again. He wants to get caught up on what this Commission has been working on. He said it is wonderful to pick up on areas of connectivity with neighboring communities and on areas of safety. He will continue to be an advocate for trails, recreation program activities for all ages which this Commission does a great job. Director Breuer and her staff do a fantastic job. It is important for us to advocate for a healthy New Brighton. B. Chair Updates Chair Frischman introduced the newest commissioner. Jack Brunell stated he is a 35 year resident of New Brighton. He had served on the Human Rights Commission back in the 1980's. He is active in the Fridley senior center. Working with their Chores and More program which helps seniors stay in their homes longer. He is also an AARP Tax preparer. He does that in Fridley and would like to be more involved in New Brighton. Chair Frischman noted that there are 3 vacancies on the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission. She encouraged anyone interested to apply online or contact City Hall. C. Commission Reports on Parks Director Breuer stated that perhaps at the February meeting the Commission members could have a park picked out that they would like to visit /adopt. You may want to choose a different park than what you had previously. Commissioners may choose more than one park if they would like. D. Department Happenings / upcoming events Director Breuer reminded the listening audience that these Department Happenings are available by e-mail if you go to the City's website you can sign up choices from Departments in the City. Some of the December highlights were: • A total of 36, 30 day Holiday Fitness passes were sold from Nov. 27 through Dec. 31. • The Eagles Nest hosted nearly 1,000 birthday parties during 2013.
