In 2014 we have no State aid <br />projects, in 2015 would be the 10th Street, in 2016 it would be the <br />County Road E2 road from Old 8 to the gas station. You can bank <br />State aid money for 3 years; after that you start to lose it. <br />7. 2014 -2030 Street Reconstruction <br />8. 2014 Mill & Overlay's <br />VII. Trails, Bike and Walk -ways <br />Chair Frischman stated there may be more discussion in February as some of <br />the Public Works projects come into discussion. <br />VIII. Announcements <br />A. Council Report — Council Member Strub <br />Councilmember Strub stated he was sworn into the Council one week <br />ago. He stated he served on the PREC back in 2010 and it is wonderful to <br />be back again. He wants to get caught up on what this Commission has <br />been working on. He said it is wonderful to pick up on areas of <br />connectivity with neighboring communities and on areas of safety. He will <br />continue to be an advocate for trails, recreation program activities for all <br />ages which this Commission does a great job. Director Breuer and her <br />staff do a fantastic job. It is important for us to advocate for a healthy New <br />Brighton. <br />B. Chair Updates <br />Chair Frischman introduced the newest commissioner. Jack Brunell <br />stated he is a 35 year resident of New Brighton. He had served on the <br />Human Rights Commission back in the 1980's. He is active in the Fridley <br />senior center. Working with their Chores and More program which helps <br />seniors stay in their homes longer. He is also an AARP Tax preparer. He <br />does that in Fridley and would like to be more involved in New Brighton. <br />Chair Frischman noted that there are 3 vacancies on the Parks, <br />Recreation and Environmental Commission. She encouraged anyone <br />interested to apply online or contact City Hall. <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Director Breuer stated that perhaps at the February meeting the <br />Commission members could have a park picked out that they would like to <br />visit /adopt. You may want to choose a different park than what you had <br />previously. Commissioners may choose more than one park if they would <br />like. <br />D. Department Happenings / upcoming events <br />Director Breuer reminded the listening audience that these Department <br />Happenings are available by e-mail if you go to the City's website you can <br />sign up choices from Departments in the City. Some of the December <br />highlights were: <br />• A total of 36, 30 day Holiday Fitness passes were sold from Nov. <br />27 through Dec. 31. <br />• The Eagles Nest hosted nearly 1,000 birthday parties during 2013. <br />
