Mn/DOT Road Construction Update — Mn/DOT North Area Engineer Mark Lindeberg will <br />present an update on the current transportation system around New Brighton 0-694, I -35W, <br />US 10) <br />City Manager Lotter explained Mark Lindeberg with Mn/DOT had a presentation for the Council. <br />Mark Lindeberg, Mn/DOT North Area Engineer, discussed the changes planned for I -35W in detail with the <br />Council noting Mn/DOT would be evaluating managed lane options to create a transit friendly corridor, while <br />also taking into consideration the noise and air impacts. Mr. Lindeberg reviewed the plans for County Road F <br />(10th Street NW). He reported the bridge over 1 -35W would be replaced in 2015 and then described the <br />improvements that would be made to the bridge and surrounding area. <br />Councilmember Strub discussed the importance of connecting this bridge to local trails that would provide <br />access to the Mounds View High School. Mr. Lindeberg commented he would be working with both Arden <br />Hills and New Brighton on this issue. <br />Mr. Lindeberg described the improvements planned for CSAH 96 over I -35W. He reported the Ramsey <br />County would be taking the lead on this project and work would begin in the summer of 2015. He <br />commented Mn/DOT would be working with the County on the geometric layout of this intersection. In the <br />summer of 2016, Mn/DOT would be replacing the County Road E2 bridge over 1-3 5W. <br />Councilmember Bauman expressed concern with the level of traffic that would be directed to County Road <br />E -2 after the 10'h Street bridge and CSAH 96 bridges were reconstructed in 2015. Mr. Lindeberg explained <br />that the engineers at Mn/DOT supported this plan. <br />Mr. Lindeberg discussed the proposed mill and overlay proj ect planned for 1-3 5W noting this work would <br />take place in the summer of 2016 from County Road C to I -694. This work would improve the ride quality <br />and would include upgrades to the drainage system. He reported the County Road H bridge over I -35W <br />would be replaced in 2016. Ramsey County would be taking the lead on the project. He commented the <br />County Road E bridge over TH 51 would be replaced in 2015. He indicated the new bridge would include a <br />10' trail and center turn lane.
