February 11, 2014 Page 3 of 5
length noting this work would take place in the summer of 2016.
Councilmember Bauman thanked Mr. Lindeberg for this thorough report stating this was valuable
information for the residents of Arden Hills. She recommended Mn/DOT not have toll lanes along 1-3 5W.
She suggested I -35W be widened and be allowed to be used by everyone and not just the select few. She
explained that residents have already paid enough for good roads and did not believe that commuters wanted
to pay daily for a managed lane.
Mayor Jacobsen agreed stating he would hate to see a future managed lane unused while traffic remains
congested on I -35W. He did not believe it would be wise to introduce additional vehicles to this area given its
current congested state. Mr. Lindeberg discussed how a managed lane would assist with traffic flow on I
35W from 95t'to County Road C. He explained that Mn/DOT would be holding Open House meetings to
provide the public with additional information on the projects. This would keep the community involved and
informed on the projects and their timelines.
Councilmember Strub thanked Mr. Lindeberg for attending the Council meeting.
Mayor Jacobsen agreed stating the information discussed provided the Council with greater understanding on
the timing of Mn/DOT's planned improvements and how this would impact the community.
Consent Agenda
Consent Agenda
1.
