February 25, 2014 <br />Councilmember Bauman asked if the representatives would be proposing any tax increases in 2014. She <br />expressed concern with the surplus the State created through taxes which was a tremendous burden to the <br />middle class. Representative Bemardy explained she would be working to avoid tax increases for 2014 and <br />would do her best to represent her constituents. State Senator Goodwin expressed concern with <br />Councilmember Bauman's comments and viewed it as campaigning. She explained New Brighton received <br />$500,000 in LGA from the State and was benefiting from numerous roadway improvements. <br />Councilmember Strub thanked the representatives for their presence in the City of New Brighton and <br />appreciated the open dialogue this evening. He encouraged the representatives to attend the Town Hall <br />meeting in April. <br />Representative Bemardy commended Public Safety Director Jacobson for his recent efforts regarding sex <br />trafficking. <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
