of the city that works for you Council Worksession March 25, 2014 5:00 pm Present: Mayor Dave Jacobsen Councilmember Brian Strub Councilmember Paul Jacobsen Councilmember Mary Burg Absent: Councilmember Gina Bauman Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Sandy Breuer- Director of Parks and Recreation, Jason Hicks - Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Guests in Attendance: Russ Rosa -Rosa Architecture Interview Advisory Commission Applicant The Council interviewed Advisory Commission applicant Marc Bergman. Appointment of Advisory Commissioners Discussion The Council discussed the various applicants and how they would best fill the current vacancies. Council also discussed their respective liaison appointments for the coming year. Manager Lotter prepared a resolution for consideration. New Brighton Community Center Locker Room/Restroom Renovation Discussion Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation Jason Hicks gave an overview of the proposed improvements to the Community Center, as well as an overview of the funding sources. Staff suggested requesting bids be considered at an April 2014 meeting. Councilmember Burg commented that she would like the project competed with careful consideration given to the longevity of the building. Councilmember Burg had a variety of other questions related to the design/features. Assistant Director Hicks stated that security features are planned, and they would fall under a different process. The group discussed some of the components of the design; including the personal use room, and women's locker room. Director Breuer reported that the needs of the Community Center have changed since it opened in 1994. The council requested staff prepare a presentation for the public to see at a regular Council Meeting. Worksession adjourned at 6:30 pm
