On March 25 the work session will be discussion of the locker room and <br />rest room renovation here at the Community Center. Neighborhood <br />meetings are coming up every Thursday in March. March 6 is the first one <br />at Totem Pole Park. <br />B. Chair Updates <br />Chair Frischman commented that it would be great if PREC members <br />could make that work session, it will help speak to the importance of the <br />renovation in this facility. She is excited about having new commissioners <br />on board and to also thank those that are incumbents that have reapplied. <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Driftwood/Vermont: Commissioner Parker stated he did both parks today <br />and there is no access — no footprints. <br />Freedom: Commissioner Brunell toured the park earlier. There was <br />snow on the rink so no skaters. The sledding hill gets lots of use. Have to <br />walk over the snowbank from parking lot to get to the building entrance on <br />the west side. <br />Hansen: Commissioner Fields commented that the recreational rink was <br />maintained. Breuer commented that we have concluded maintaining ice <br />now. <br />Hidden Oaks /Meadow Wood: Chair Frischman stated it is white - no <br />access to the park. <br />Innsbruck/Totem Pole: Commissioner Kunesh - Podein stated with the high <br />snow and warmer temperatures, can see that the walk -way will ice up <br />pretty quickly. <br />Silver Oaks: Commissioner Lundberg stated she has driven by the park <br />but has been going to the Community Center. The track is fantastic and <br />she has always been able to get on the equipment. <br />Sunny Square/Veterans: Council Liaison Strub walked around the loop <br />behind City Hall. The trail had not been cleared very well. There was ice <br />with about an inch of snow on top. The trash can by the playground was <br />full. Sunny Square — the building had vandalism damage inside. There <br />was a fire. <br />D. Department Happenings / upcoming events <br />Director Breuer commented on a few of the Department Happenings item. <br />The Assistant Parks and Recreation Director position has closed. First <br />round interviews were completed the end of February. Ten candidates <br />were interviewed. Two finalists were interviewed. The goal is to have <br />someone on board by April 1 st <br />Partnered with the library on some cultural events. March, April and May <br />have performances and they are free. Funding is from the Minnesota Arts <br />and Cultural Heritage Fund. <br />Chair Frischman stated we will have new commissioners starting in April. <br />Park tours have been very beneficial. Maybe June would be a good <br />month. Director Breuer stated typically the tour was in the fall, but could be <br />done in June. Director Breuer will check on the van and staff availability. <br />
