Brighton, PREC would not recommend doing the bike lane portion in New <br />Brighton. <br />VI. New Business <br />a. Review NBCC Policies <br />Jason Hicks, Facilities Manager, gave a presentation on the updates to the <br />New Brighton Community Center Policy Handbook changes. Facilities <br />Manager, Hicks gave an overview of the changes: <br />• E- cigarettes have been added to the policy. They are treated the same <br />as a cigarette in the policy. <br />• Security has been added to the alcohol policy. Also, the 4 hour security <br />requirement will be changed to 3 hours. <br />• Firearms cannot be banned. The new law states if they have a firearm, <br />they must carry their license with them. The policy is to call the police <br />and the police will verify whether their license is valid or not. <br />• Breast feeding is allowed in public or private area by State statute. In <br />addition, a private area is offered for those that wish to breast feed in <br />private. <br />• The recreational facility use policy was added to the NBCC Policy <br />Handbook. The Facility Use Policy was adopted in 2007 for all our <br />facilities, including neighborhood centers. The wording has been <br />changed to fit the NBCC. <br />Chair Frischman inquired why smoking was allowed just over the bridge of <br />our Community Center if it is not allowed in the parks. The response was <br />that this was done to accommodate the facility for weddings and other <br />large rental events. <br />Commissioner Kunesh - Podein inquired if security was from the New <br />Brighton Public Safety Department. Facilities Manager Hicks stated it <br />would be. <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER KUNESH- PODEIN, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER FIELDS, TO ACCEPT THE CHANGES MADE TO THE <br />NEW BRIGHTON COMMUNITY CENTER POLICY HANDBOOK, <br />(INCLUDING THE SECURITY CHANGE FROM 4 HOURS TO 3 HOURS), <br />AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br />VII. Trails, Bike and Walk -ways <br />None <br />VIII. Announcements <br />A. Council Report — Council Member Strub <br />Council Liaison Strub stated the most exciting thing is that there were 20 <br />people that applied for Commission positions. The three commissioners <br />from this Commission who had terms up have reapplied. Commissions <br />should be able to be filled to capacity. <br />
