She explained the Cable
Commission has tried to work informally to compromise as much as possible with Comcast. This was
proving to be extremely difficult. She discussed the pending Time Warner merger and how this would
impact Comcast customers. She reported that the requested PEG fees would cover 10 cities and not just one.
This should be considered by Comcast on their graph and noted complaints were not being made about PEG
fees, but rather, with Comcast itself. She believed the $0.44 PEG fee was insulting. She discussed the
combative negotiation process that has incurred with Comcast and believed they were unwilling to
compromise. She supported the current $4.15 PEG fees continuing, but indicated this was not supported by
Comcast. She feared how local programming would continue after the franchise was voted on.
Ms. Warner stated the Comcast was fully invested in this franchise and would be until the Time Warner
merger was complete.
Mayor Jacobsen thanked Ms. Warner for the information presented this evening.
2.
