Director Jacobson noted our Public Safety Center building is the alternate EOC for the State of <br />Minnesota. <br />Updates <br />A. Citizen Corps Council <br />No Report. <br />Department Reports <br />A. Human Rights <br />No report. <br />B. Allina Health <br />Mr. Dave Matteson, Allina Health, reported that as of 4/28, there have been 586 total calls in <br />New Brighton; an average of 5 per day. The majority of these calls are sick persons or breathing <br />problems with 76% of calls resulting in a transport. <br />Mr. Matteson reported he attended an Arden Hills council meeting last month to get a building <br />permit for their new office location but a lot of things changed and the Council voted 3 -2 to not <br />allow the lease so he is now actively looking at other properties in New Brighton. <br />Allina Health now has new ALS protocols in effect. <br />Allina Health has expanded their service in Glencoe as Glencoe was experiencing some financial <br />hardship which resulted in Glencoe asking to merge with Allina. <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (YIPS) <br />Commissioner Woods presented the following items of note: <br />• The April blood drive was a success with 29 pints of blood being collected. The next <br />blood drive is scheduled for June 25`n. <br />• New Brighton Clean Up Day /Shredding Day is May 3rd from 9 am - Noon. <br />• The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is scheduled for May 4th at 5 pm at the New <br />Brighton Community Center. <br />• The New Brighton Triathlon is scheduled for June 7tH <br />• Skywarn training is scheduled for May 27tH <br />D. Public Safety /Homeland Security Update <br />Sgt. Andy Masterman is retiring on May 23rd after serving New Brighton for 26 years. We will <br />be recognizing Sgt. Masterman at the May 13th City Council meeting with a proclamation and a <br />plaque. Sgt. Masterman will be a business agent for Law Enforcement Labor Services. Due to <br />this retirement, we are working on a promotional process to replace his position and a hiring <br />process. <br />
