The annual Public Safety Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be held on Sunday, May 4th at 5 <br />pm at the New Brighton Community Center. The featured speaker will be Joe Kelly, Deputy <br />Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for the State of MN. <br />On Friday, April 4th, officers responded to a minor motor vehicle accident with the driver then <br />suffering cardiac arrest. The driver has since recovered and we will present Life Saving Awards <br />at a future date. <br />Commissioner Lamp asked Director Jacobson about a Washington County Attorney's Office <br />support of a middle school program but she couldn't recall the name of the program. Director <br />Jacobson stated he will check with the school district. <br />Council Liaison <br />A. Council Report <br />Council Member Burg spoke about The Exchange development; API is still working on an <br />additional building, Pulte Homes is moving forward, and CSI is also moving forward. <br />Council Member Burg reported the county met on changes to the bridges over 35W. Two bridges <br />will be redone each year; 2015 should be the County Rd E2 and the Highway 96 bridges. <br />Commissioner Eichers asked if there was a reason the published postings are not on the city web <br />site. Council Member Burg stated she will mention this to City Manager Lotter. <br />Old Business <br />A. Crosswalk Study <br />Director Jacobson noted the next report on the crosswalk study from Mr. Grant Wyffels, Director <br />of Public Works, will be at the June meeting. <br />New Rusiness <br />Commissioner Lamp asked about meeting dates for the summer and who thanks the outgoing <br />Commissioner members. Director Jacobson stated the Commission usually meets in June and <br />then does not meet in July and August, unless needed. The outgoing Commission members are <br />recognized by Council and thanked for their service. <br />A. Selection of Chairman for 2014 -15 Commission Year <br />Commissioner Schumann made a motion to nominate Commissioner Allen to continue as the <br />chairman for the Public Safety Commission for the 2014 -15 year; seconded by all other <br />Commission members. Motion carried. <br />Adjourn <br />Commissioner Lamp made a motion to adjourn the April Public Safety Commission meeting; <br />seconded by Commissioner Hollimon; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:17 pm. <br />
