April 22, 2014 City Manager Lotter reported he would be interviewing candidates for the Facilities Manager at the Community Center on April 23, 2014. He stated he would be attending the Metro Cities Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Gina Bauman Councilmember Bauman commented the Planning Commission met on April 15, 2014. City Planner Gundlach provided the Council with an update on the Belair/Murlowski property regarding the sound mitigation benn. It was noted staff would continue to work with the applicant on this matter. Councilmember Bauman thanked City Planner Gundlach for her work on this issue. She provided the Council with a report on the CTV IComcast hearing, which was held on April 18, 2014. She appreciated all those in attendance and summarized a portion of the comments received. Mary Burg Councilmember Burg reported the New Brighton Historical Society would be holding an annual meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 1 :00 p.m. and at 2:00 p.m. the author of The Longest Night, would be making a presentation. She invited all to attend this free event. She stated the Public Safety Commission would meet again on April 28, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Building. She thanked all residents who attended the Town Hall event. She commented the New Brighton Volunteer Appreciation Dinner would be held at the Community Center on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Paul Jacobsen Councilmember Jacobsen reported the EDC met on April 16, 2014 and discussed the CSI project along with the business subsidy policy. He thanked Ehlers for their assistance with the business subsidy policy. Brian Strub Councilmember Strub welcomed the new fire fighters to the City of New Brighton, stating he attended the Fire Appreciation Banquet on April 12, 2014. He noted on April 19, 2014 he attended the Easter Egg Hunt at Driftwood Park. He thanked the Rotary Club for putting on this fantastic event. He explained that on April 21, 2014 he served as a judge at a STEAM competition at Edgewood Middle School. He noted he spoke to a group of kindergartners on April 22, 2014 at Belair Elementary School. He indicated the Park and Recreation Commission would meet again May 7, 2014. He reported on Thursday, May 8,2014 the local library would have a Music at the Library celebration. Mayor Jacobsen Mayor Jacobsen reported he would be traveling to Fergus Falls on Friday and Saturday for the Minnesota Mayor's Conference. He indicated he had spoken with the County Commissioner regarding the need for a safe crosswalk near a county trail. The matters discussed at the recent Five Cities Mayor group as presented to the Council.
