Maybe get an idea of how many hours they could commit. • If volunteers are necessary, it would help to know the number of hours they could contribute. The Parks and Rec. Department would like to put this information in the Winter Brochure. The deadline to for brochure information is mid - October. Even if it did not make the brochure, it could still be promoted on City website. Users will most likely be Mr. Kvaal's petition group. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FIELDS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER PARKER, TO RECOMMEND THE CITY HANDLE ALL FLOODING, PLOWING AND MAINTENANCE OF SUNNY SQUARE RINKS AND MR. KVAAL AND FRIENDS OF SUNNY SQUARE PARK WILL HANDLE THE VOLUNTEER HOURS. HOURS TO BE DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS OBTAINED. MOTION CARRIED. Commissioner Kunesh - Podein agreed with Commissioner Brunell. She felt that the City should flood it and maintain Sunny Square for some consistency and expertise there. The staffing could then be done by the friends of Sunny Square. Council Liaison Strub stated he wanted to give Mr. Kvaal some flexibility in working out a schedule. It is not expected that we know who will work when, but rather the number of volunteers expected and the total number of hours they will have committed to give. It was suggested there is a place for a sign to be posted on the door if the building will not be open on a specific day. Director Breuer stated she would like to have a sign in the neighborhood center also thanking the Friends of Sunny Square Park for volunteering to staff this building so that it can be open this season. Proposed weekend hours are Noon — 5pm Sat. and Sun. and 3:30 — 7 p.m. Mon. -Fri. Mr. Kvaal stated he may drop Friday hours. Some felt that it could be stated the hours are on Fridays, but if no skaters or no volunteer staff, it would not be open. Some felt it would be good to put the hours listed in the proposal as part of the motion to the Council.
