Not Approved , <br /> Planner Gundlach referenced her report; item D; The existing driveway will need to be extended an additional 20 <br /> feet,but will still comply with the 50%hardcover rule for residential proprieties. <br /> The applicant, Rodney Griffen stated that he does intend to remove the existing garage prior to construction of the <br /> new garage. <br /> Chairperson Howard noted that the driveway size is not listed as a condition, and asked how the City can <br /> guarantee compliance. Planner Gundlach responded that a condition certainly could be added; however all <br /> residential properties in New Brighton are required to meet the 50% hardcover rule regardless if these activities <br /> require permits or not. <br /> Chairperson Howard asked for comments. The resident at 815 7th Ave NW stated that he thought the letter he <br /> received was in reference to his property. City Planner Gundlach explained the notification requirement, and <br /> apologized for the confusion. <br /> Motion by Commissioner McPherson, seconded by Commissioner Danger to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Approved 7-0. <br /> Commissioner Nichols-Matkaiti questioned if the commission was concerned that the driveway may not be <br /> expanded. Planner Gundlach explained that while the Special Use Permit does not require the driveway to be <br /> completed, City Code does require parking on paved surfaces only. <br /> Motion by Commissioner Danger,seconded by Commissioner Meyers to accept staff recommendation. <br /> Approved 7-0 <br /> Announcements: <br /> (A) Welcome new Commissioner Paul Banker <br /> Commissioner Banker stated that he has lived in New Brighton since 2000, and is an attorney specializing in civil <br /> litigation. <br /> (B) Work session tentatively scheduled for June 6th <br /> City Planner Gundlach reported that the City Attorney is reviewing an issue, and it may turn out to be a city code <br /> issue; rather than a zoning code issue. Thus, a work session may be required and for commissioners to keep this <br /> date on their schedules. <br /> Chairperson Howard inquired as to the next items to be reviewed by the planning commission. Planner Gundlach <br /> responded that she is waiting to hear form the City Manager regarding council's direction on whether additional <br /> Zoning Code Amendment work should be undertaken and if so,what issues. <br /> (C) Temporary Sign Enforcement has begun <br /> City Planner Gundlach reported that she has been contacting businesses,reminding them of the requirements. <br /> Commissioner Danger questioned the time of which businesses have to comply with the code.
