-C <br />NEWr <br />the cil y that works for you <br />Position Title: <br />Department / Location: <br />Immediate Supervisor. <br />Grade Level: <br />Position & FLSA Status., <br />Date of Latest Revision: <br />Position Summary: <br />City of New Brighton, Minnesota <br />Position Job Description <br />Director of Community Assets and Development <br />Public Works / City Hall <br />City Manager <br />Full -Time Exempt <br />November 2014 <br />This position will provide high level leadership and strategic direction to the Community Assets and Development <br />Department which includes the former Publics Works and Engineering (streets, water, and facilities maintenance) <br />and Community Development (planning, economic development, building and code inspections, and geographic <br />information systems) Departments. <br />This position supervises and supports the Deputy Director /Director of Planning and Senior Engineer in the <br />Community Assets and Development Department. The position performs a wide variety of routine and complex <br />administrative, technical and professional work relating to planning, engineering, public works, improvements, and <br />maintenance issues affecting all current and future physical development within and affecting the City. <br />Essential Accountabilities and Expected Outcomes <br />1) Exercises a leadership style that promotes collaboration, appropriate staff initiative and creates individual <br />growth opportunities for understanding the basics of the department functions for which responsible. <br />v Recruitment, selection, orientation, advancement and evaluation of staff in the department and is directly <br />accountable the effectiveness and success of staff. <br />Y Planning, implementation and ongoing operational evaluation processes are inclusive, directed and produce <br />workable, thoughtful, well documented and timely outcomes. <br />y Active listening and feedback sessions clearly and consistently strengthen the quality and quantity of results <br />being achieved. <br />;o Department staff supports each other, learn from each other and intentionally share accountabilities for <br />achieving expected results. <br />y There are sufficient resource capabilities to deliver public works design and service outcomes as expected. <br />There is a clear understanding of the interventions that will be made when service standards are not <br />acceptable. <br />2) Prepares, submits and manages a department and /or personal work plan including goals and objectives to be <br />achieved and also the metrics and measures of success. <br />Work plans are thorough, submitted on time and consistently achieved as presented. <br />
