Consider Resolution Accepting Monetary and Tangible Donations from Dairy Queen, on Old <br />Highway 8 in 2014. Report No. 14-297. <br /> <br />City Manager Lotter stated Parks and Recreation Director Breuer would be presenting this item to the <br />Council. <br />Parks and Recreation Director Breuer explained the New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department has <br />partnered with Tim Larson, of the Dairy Queen at 409 Old Highway 8, NW in New Brighton since 2011. <br />Each of the last four years, the Dairy Queen has donated to the City scholarship fund to help residents with the <br />cost of Parks and Recreation program. The Dairy Queen donations to the scholarship fund the past four years <br />amounts to $3,699.90. The average scholarship given is about $30. This equates to the Dairy Queen <br />contributing to nearly 125 scholarships. Staff recommended the Council adopt a Resolution that would <br />accept the monetary scholarship donation from Dairy Queen. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked Mr. Larson for his generosity. <br />Tim Larson, Dairy Queen, appreciated the partnership he had with the City and encouraged all strong <br />business owners to interact with the community. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked Mr. Larson for being a shining example to the community. <br />Mayor Jacobsen agreed and was proud of the strong character Mr. Larson exemplified through his generous <br />donations to the entire community. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to waive the <br />reading and adopt a Resolution accepting monetary scholarship donations from Dairy <br />Queen, 409 Old Highway 8 NW, New Brighton, Minnesota in the amount of $809.08 and <br />also other tangible donations benefiting program participants in the New Brighton Parks <br />& Recreation Department. <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
