May 12, 2015 <br />A. Dalsin & Son, has not done work for the City in the past, but has done similar work in other <br />communities and is qualified and capable of performing work of this kind and magnitude. Staff <br />recommended the Council accept all bids except Rosenquist Construction and adopt a <br />Resolution awarding the contract for City Project 15 -4 to the low bidder, John A. Dalsin & <br />Son. <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Bauman to accept all bids <br />except Rosenquist Construction Inc. since it was not valid and adopt a Resolution <br />awarding a contract for City Project 15 -4, Partial Reroofing at Water Treatment Plant 1 <br />and the Public Works Garage to the lowest responsible bidder, John A. Dalsin & Son, <br />Inc., in the amount of $276,887. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br />Coniniissimi Liaison Reports, Annotincemctits and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the Community Survey results were available and the results <br />were comparable to those found in 2013. He was proud to report that residents were happy <br />with the quality of services being provided by the City of New Brighton. He encouraged the <br />Council to review the Executive Summary from the Community Survey. He discussed the <br />format changes that were made to the weekly update that was provided to the Council by staff. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the Cable Commission recently met and reviewed their 2014 <br />audit. She explained that the Cable Commission also had a meeting with its City Managers. <br />She provided an update on the CenturyLink franchise. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the PREC meeting last week. Spring programs <br />were well underway and 16 softball teams were now playing in the City. She discussed the <br />events that took place on Arbor Day. She noted the City still had 42 trees that would be placed <br />in boulevards throughout the community. She encouraged residents to get out and take <br />advantage of the City's golf course. She provided comment on the success of the ice rinks <br />over the past winter. She noted PREC would meet again on June 3rd at 6:30 p.m. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilirlember Jacobsen reported he attended the EDC meeting on May 6t' where the group <br />received a presentation from the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce regarding the Grow <br />Minnesota Initiative. He indicated the Planning Commission would be meeting on Tuesday, <br />May 19th at 7:00 p.m. He thanked all of the residents for sharing their comments and concerns <br />regarding chickens with the Council. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported stated the State of Minnesota Annual Law Enforcement <br />Memorial Program would be held at the State Capitol on Friday, May 15th as part of National <br />Police Week. He noted the Public Safety Commission would meet again on June 29th <br />Mayor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported he recently attended his daughter graduation from Winona State <br />where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. <br />Page 12 of 13 <br />Commission Liaison <br />Reports, <br />Announcements and <br />Updates <br />
