Park Shelters (Hidden Oaks and Driftwood) <br />Breuer provided comment on the condition of the Hidden Oaks and Driftwood park shelters with the Council. <br />She discussed the number of times these shelters have been rented in recent years, noting the Hidden Oaks <br />shelter had not been rented since 2009. For this reason, staff was in favor of demolishing the shelter. Staff <br />discussed the usage of Driftwood shelter, noting it was used the rotary group for an Easter egg hunt. She <br />requested the Council provide staff with direction on how to proceed with the park shelters. <br />Councilmember Bauman asked if the wood on the ceiling of the Hidden Oaks shelter could be repurposed. <br />Brueur believed the wood could be repurposed. <br />Councilmember Burg questioned if a spigot could remain at Driftwood to provide a drinking fountain for <br />lacrosse and soccer teams. Chris Wolla explained that an outdoor spigot was not available at this time for <br />sporting events. He reported that if the building was taken down, a water line could remain in place. <br />Mayor Jacobsen commented that PREC was recommending that both shelters be taken down. <br />Councilmember Bauman believed that the Hidden Oaks park shelter should be demolished. She asked if the <br />shelters could be turned into an open air pavilion. Chris Wolla commented that the buildings were designed for <br />the walls to come out. However, after speaking with an architect, it was recommended that the shelters be <br />demolished and rebuilt. <br />Mayor Jacobsen asked if the concrete slab would be removed. Breuer recommended the concrete slabs be <br />removed due to the fact each park already had a picnic shelter. <br />Mayor Jacobsen commented there was Council consensus to have both park shelters removed. <br />Aruival Financial Report, Communications Letter and Compliance Report Presentation <br />Lotter applauded Finance Director Davitt for providing the Council with additional financial information in the <br />weekly updates. <br />Davitt provided the Council with several handouts and reviewed the annual financial report with the Council. <br />She reviewed the communication letter and compliance report as well. She discussed several modifications <br />she made to the report to improve the readability of the financial report. She then provided a summary on the <br />financial highlights from 2014. <br />Councilmember Burg questioned how the water situation would impact the City's 2015 budget. Lotter <br />explained that the change to the Mt. Sinai /Hinkley well would have a large negative impact to the City's water <br />fund. This damage would be pursued by the City with the Army. He reported that staff would continue to <br />track this matter. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen requested staff provide the Council with the balance of the community reinvestment <br />fund. Davitt indicated this fund had a balance of just over $3 million. <br />Councilmember Bauman thanked staff for the thorough report. <br />, Mayor Jacobsen appreciated the new format of the financial report. <br />
