April 28, 2015 Page 10 of 11 <br />Councilmember Bauman appreciated Mr. Murlowski's willingness to work with the City. <br />Mr. Murlowski requested several minutes to confer with his attorney. <br />Mayor Jacobsen called for a short recess to allow Mr. Murlowski to speak with his attorney. <br />Mr. Murlowski commented that after speaking with his attorney, he believed it was a reasonable request to <br />grant the 30 day extension. <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to table action on this <br />item based on the applicant's agreement to extend the request for 30 days to May 31, <br />2015. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />nean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the New Brighton Exchange was busy with activity this spring. <br />He noted AN was expanding their site and was a good corporate neighbor to the City. He <br />stated Pulte Homes has sold each lot in Phase I. He provided comment on the MnDOT bridge <br />replacements that would be occurring over the next two years. He indicated Director <br />Schlichting has discussed the projects with Beth Engum at Ramsey County regarding these <br />projects. He stated that a video will be placed on the City's website once the detour routes <br />were established. He provided the Council with an update on the City's financial software <br />update. He discussed the recent City -wide survey and stated the results would be brought to <br />the Council at the Town HalI meeting on Saturday, May 2 °`l. He further reviewed the topics <br />that would be addressed at the Town Hall meeting. <br />City Manager Lotter provided an update on the water contamination issue and noted that the <br />recent contaminant posed a very low health risk. He reported there are no human cases of <br />cancer connected to this contaminant. He explained how the City had switched its pumping for <br />the water supply noting resident's water was already free of Dioxane. He was proud of the <br />City's efforts to get ahead of this issue. He noted that he was available to discuss this matter in <br />further detail with residents. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported she served on the Cable Commission. She stated the merger <br />of Comcast and Time Warner has been denied by the FCC. This would mean that Comcast <br />would remain in the metro area. She explained that the Cable Commission received a <br />franchise application from CenturyLink. She discussed the services CenturyLink would be <br />bringing to the Twin Cities metro area. She indicated she would be attending a CTV <br />Appreciation Dinner on Thursday at the Mounds View Community Center. She provided <br />comment on the New Brighton Appreciation Banquet and thanked all of the volunteers that <br />worked to make New Brighton such an amazing community. She appreciated Applewood <br />Pointe for hosting the City Council. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the volunteer appreciation dinner as well. She <br />valued the City's volunteers and the number of hours they served each year. She explained she <br />attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Community Center where the new locker room <br />facilities were displayed. She stated Northeast Youth and Family Services would be holding a <br />Leadership Luncheon on May 6th at Midland Hills Golf Course at 11:30 a.m. She discussed <br />the great work being conducted by this organization in assisting youth in the community.
