Larry believed that the history of the community should be considered and the continuation of this history. He <br />thought commissioners ideas should match the community and should not throw in drastic or fast changes. <br />Third, he understood that New Brighton was a suburb on the 35W corridor and had the opportunity to grow its <br />business base because of its location. He thought this should be a focal point. He was pleased with the <br />development taking place at the quadrant and along the freeway. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen asked why he would be a good person to represent the opinions and concerns of the <br />City. <br />Larry discussed his work experience noting often times, he got involved in engineering work/project <br />leadership. He noted there was frustration at times in working with others, but explained he had the ability to <br />express himself. He understood that there was more than one solution to a problem. <br />Councilmember Burg asked what his experiences were with redevelopment. <br />Larry stated he primarily worked on redeveloping properties. He stated he has not done a new building since <br />the late 1990's. He noted that he has volunteered for St. John's and was hoping to find volunteer work in the <br />City. He understood he was new to this and would have to learn how the Planning Commission worked. <br />Councilmember Bauman understood that Larry was interested in serving on either the Planning Commission or <br />PREC. <br />Larry explained that with his work experience, be believed that he could benefit either group.
