Helipad, 1100 Old Highway 8 NW, New Brighton, MN 55112 Dear Mrs. Gundlach, The intent of this letter is to provide a written narrative for consideration regarding the APi Group, Inc. helipad project and related code amendment. Issue The city of New Brighton does not have ordinance pertaining to helicopters or helipads. Discussion Due to increasing development near our Headquarters building, APi Group, Inc. is exploring safer avenues to land the corporate helicopter. Historically the helicopter has landed in the south parking lot, but as our campus grows a more permanent solution is optimal. Over the past 20 weeks, APi Group, Inc. has gathered extensive sound data (Attachment `A'), conducted flight demonstrations, and met with our neighbors in the community (Attachment `B'). The resulting data leads us to believe that the overall community impact from the use of a helipad will be minimal. The primary community concerns of noise, aesthetics, and dust have all been addressed and will be the core deciding factors as we design and use the helipad. Recommendation The helipad will be positioned on the NE corner of our lot, between the headquarters and new training center. We will not alter the existing lighting conditions in the area. The existing 9,OOOsf foundation will be reduced/removed if it impedes the proper installation of an FAA approved helipad. Our helipad will be constructed according to FAA regulations and designed in a way that will enhance the beauty of area and minimize dust.
