He indicated that the survey was
conducted as part of the Council's Strategic Priorities for 2015. He explained that a very high response rate
was received and good feedback from City employees was provided.
Hatch provided further comment on the employee survey and noted employees were given two weeks to
submit their answers. He noted that Lynn Consulting assisted the City with the survey, which allowed
employees to remain anonymous.
Lotter commented that responses 1 through 6 were considered to be a concern, while responses 7 through 8
were average, and 9 through 10 were the goal. He indicated that these thoughts were not shared with
employees prior to completion of the survey.
Hatch stated that generally speaking people enjoy their jobs and their work environments. The City could
consider offering more formal training opportunities for development. He was pleased to report that
employees feel they can approach their supervisors.
Councilmember Bauman was pleased with the promoter scores received by the City.
Councilmember Burg believed it would be interesting to understand why a certain percentage of employees did
not fill out their surveys.
Lotter understood this would be valuable information. He then discussed the philosophy management had with
allowing employees further opportunities to advance within the organization.
Councilmember Strub questioned when the last employee survey was completed. Hatch responded that the last
survey was conducted in 2005.
Councilmember Strub believed that the trust level between the employees and management would be increased
if the survey was conducted on a more regular basis.
