Updates <br />A. Citizen Corps Council <br />No report. <br />Department Reports <br />A. Human Rights <br />No report. <br />B. Allina Health <br />Mr. Dave Matteson, Allina Health, distributed and reviewed 2014 year-to-date stats for New <br />Brighton. The volume of calls remains steady and the response times remain below set <br />requirements. <br />Mr. Matteson reported Allina Health continues to look for locations to house equipment needing <br />to be stored and serve as a base for ambulance crews. He stated he is currently looking at a few <br />locations in western Shoreview. <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (YIPS) <br />Commissioner Woods presented the following items of note: <br />• VIPS worked many hours helping out with Stockyard Days activities; including the <br />parade and park patrol. <br />• There was a blood drive on September 4"' at the Public Safety Center; 19 units of blood <br />were collected which was lower than expected. We hope to have more blood donors at <br />the next blood drive which is scheduled for November 5tH <br />• VIPS will be selling bike helmets at the Fire Department Open House which is <br />scheduled for Monday, October 27. <br />• This summer, the VIPS had a picnic instead of a Christmas party and they have decided <br />to do the picnic again next summer. <br />D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br />Deputy Director Dan Olson reported that Firefighter Duane Bousema retired effective September <br />25` and Firefighter Tom Roback will be retiring effective October 20a'. Firefighter Bousema has <br />been a Firefighter for 20 years and Firefighter Roback for 17 years. We will be recognizing <br />them for their years of service at the New Brighton City Council meeting on November 25tH <br />Deputy Director Olson reported we will be conducting a promotional process for Sergeant in <br />October/November with the formal appointment to be effective on January 1, 2015. This <br />promotional process is to fill the vacancy created by Sgt. Masterman's retirement. <br />Officer Brianna Riedel and Officer Cody Amberg are continuing in the field training process <br />with our Field Training Officers and are progressing on schedule. <br />
