It is important to provide well maintained and up to date pieces of equipment to continue to
operate a well-rounded fitness center. This includes replacing pieces or equipment as they age
and deteriorate from use. The deterioration occurs in both the electronic components that operate
the equipment or provide data as well as the mechanical components that are in constant motion
or support the body weight of the user. To minimize this deterioration, NBCC works with an
outside vendor to perform quarterly preventative maintenance of fitness equipment. This
quarterly maintenance consists of-
-
£
- Cleaning the exterior and interior of the various pieces of equipment
- Vacuuming underneath the pieces of equipment
- Lubricating all moving parts of the equipment
- Calibrating each piece of equipment to the factory specifications
- Inspecting each piece of equipment and documenting any concern
This service provider has confirmed they are able to perform quarterly maintenance on the pieces
of equipment recommended for purchase.
The treadmills have a life expectancy of five years and the other cardio pieces have a life
expectancy of eight years. Due to the differing life expectancies, they are on different
replacement schedules. The fitness center equipment was last updated in 2008 and the cardio
equipment has reached its life expectancy. One treadmill is scheduled to be replaced in 2015.
