O0* Of <br />PMGHTON <br />d is c it 1� tlol works for you <br />AGENDA SECTION: Special Business <br />REPORT DATE: 9/3/2015 <br />MEETING DATE: 9/8/2015 <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider approval of a Proclamation recognizing May Vang for 14 <br />years of service to the City of New Brighton. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets & <br />Development <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br />Recommendation: Ask Mayor Jacobsen, on behalf of the City Council, to present Office <br />Assistant May Vang with a framed proclamation for her nearly 14 years of service to the City of <br />New Brighton. <br />Legislative History: Per Section 33.3 of the Employee Policy Handbook, staff members who <br />resign with 10-19 years of service will receive a framed proclamation from the City Council. <br />Financial Impact: N/A <br />Explanation: May Vang started with the City of New Brighton in early 2002 as a front desk <br />clerk at the Community Center. In 2004 May transitioned to City Hall as an office assistant. <br />May formally submitted her resignation on September 1St, leaving the City, and the state, to join <br />her husband in Tucson, Arizona where he recently obtained a new job. May's last day will be <br />Friday, September 18tH <br />May has become known as mother -May for her demeanor with staff and overall nurturer at City <br />Hall and we will miss her immensely. May has helped countless residents and contractors over <br />the years, being a familiar face at the City Hall front desk.
