Watershed District regarding access, construction, operation and maintenance of the Hansen
Park Project.
Draft plans were presented at the November 4, 2015 PREC meeting and again during a public
open house on November 12, 2015 with about 60 city residents in attendance.
Financial Impact: N/A
Explanation: Rice Creek Watershed District Staff will present the draft plans of Hansen Park
Improvements. The youth ball fields on the west side of Hansen Park will be impacted with the
proposed project. Two options will be presented to the Council for consideration:
Option A: Reconstruct the youth ball fields at their current location.
Option B: Store additional dredge material onsite and accept cash payment for project
savings for reduced offsite hauling of material, and not rebuilding the fields in
their current location.
The Rice Creek Watershed District Board, New Brighton PREC, and RCWD/City staffs are
recommending Option B. Final arrangements would be built into a cooperative agreement(s)
between the RCWD Board and City Council with formal action by the governing bodies
sometime in January.
Craig G. Schlichting, P.E.
Director of Community Assets and Development
Attachments
RCWD Memo
Powerpoint Hansen Park Project Update
