Councilmember Bauman supported Jeanne Frischman being on the Planning Commission.
Councilmember Burg agreed and did not feel the need to interview Jeanne given her years of service to the
City.
Mayor Johnson stated she would rely on the Council's expertise for this recommendation.
Further discussion ensued regarding the commission applicants and open positions.
Mayor Johnson recommended staff set up interviews for the six new applicants.
Councilmember Jacobsen discussed the possibility of moving the Civil Service Commission members over to
the Public Safety Commission.
Councilmember Burg commented that the Civil Service Commission has not served a huge purpose and stated
this group could possibly be disbanded. She wanted to keep Graham Allen and Cindy Catola involved with the
City on Commission if possible. Lotter discussed the purpose of the Civil Service Commission. He noted Bill
Kearns wanted to step down from this group. He explained Graham Allen was interested in serving on the
Planning Commission.
Mayor Johnson wanted the City to proceed with caution on this matter.
Councilmember Jacobsen believed the group was no longer relevant and he was in favor of having the Civil
Service Commission disbanded.
Councilmember Burg supported this recommendation and believed a task force could be formed out of the
Public Safety Commission, if this became necessary to address issues on behalf of the City. She asked if staff
had spoken to Public Safety Director Jacobson regarding this matter. Lotter stated he had, and Public Safety
Director Jacobson supported the disbanding of the Civil Service Commission.
Mayor Johnson recommended staff contact Cindy to see if she was interested in serving on another
Commission or Committee. She asked when the Council would be holding interviews of the new applicants.
Lotter ran through the list of new candidates and stated interviews would be scheduled for February 23`d
Mayor Johnson requested staff provide her with a contact list of returning Commission members. This would
allow her to invite each one to coffee to meet with them personally.
Council Liaison Positions
Councilmember Burg commented she would not be able to serve as the Northeast Youth and Family Services
liaison any further.
Mayor Johnson recommended Councilmember Burg send in her letter of resignation. She indicated she would
be willing to serve as the liaison.
Councilmember Jacobsen was willing to serve as the alternate.
Mayor Johnson reviewed the current liaison positions for the City Council members.
